Well as a PvE player, this nerf has made me realise more and more just how stupid this is all getting. People in PvP whine and complain and so Anet drops the nerf bat on everyone and us happy PvE players feel the pain. I'm a ranger, and I use spirits. Now their duration of life has been shortened, their effects don't last as long or are as good. My favorite one doesn't even remove hexs anymore. WTF is up with that? Come on Anet you want to balance the game but since when did you hear someone in PvE bitching about their skills being to powerful? This is really unbalanced. PvP gets all the attention and what fixes them, nerfs the rest of us. I would hardly call Sorrow's Furnace a decent act of balancing the game and making us PvE people happy. Whats wrong with you?
Now I have to re-evaluate how I have been playing through the game with my ranger, what skills will no longer work the way I was using them and so on... I think my Ele will even have some changes I'll have to try out later to as some of those skills got changed. I think its time we PvE people rose up and started being the squeaky wheel so we can have some changes that will negetively effect PvP.

I have played with spirit spammers and as a chain spiker and as an emo smiter. From seeing all these builds in action, I can tell you for the most part they got balanced in this update, rather than nerfed. I do think they went too far with NR, but that's my opinion. I think they slammed it way too hard. There's not much point in packing it now. I also think that the spirits should be more durable, not less. I didn't solo UW, but I have guildies that did, and, of course, they're ticked. I just told them, "Moron, use PS and quit whining."

I'm merely one of a huge "majority" it seems as opposed to a small vocal "minority" that so many seem to think we are. We will continue to call for nerfs as long as we feel there is an imbalance and if A-Net in their wisdom agrees with us (like they have this one) then they will change it, if not, then it will just dwindle off into lost space as many of your whines now do because of the nerf. Now we get to see the other side "whine" for a time just like most of you are doing and name calling because we aren't "made to play like you do" as you quite often say that we are trying to make one play as we do. Well that's just pretty much how it is, you play how others play or you don't. The nerfs hit the ones that A-Net feels necessary for them to play at least within some balanced parameters and don't think this is the last and final nerf ever, lol, there will be more and more and more just like any other game online from mmorpgs to mmo's. They are coming, might as well get used to them. I know I am.

Ok: I do think this update needed to happen. I also think people who want game balance get a bad name because of people like Red Sonya who just feel the need to rub anything in everyones face when they get their way.
Cheers.

Invinci-monks aren't nerfed. Like someone already said, only the cookie cutter build is nerfed.
Spirit spamming rangers are nerfed, but the 2 and 3 man smite run teams can carry on regardless, with only a top-up to QZ, and the possibility of two rangers carrying the same spirit is almost zero.
As for the changes, well, I'm glad that Anet have implemented them. If someone else comes up with an ingenious new invinci-monk build, I'd applaud them in their discovery. Same goes with any other class that develops a good build. I certainly won't gloat and start crying "Anet must NERF THIS NOW!!"
BTW, Great event, PvPX Really enjoying it. Good work Anet

I'm a bit disturbed that ANET decided to listen to the whining nerfers and yet left some broken buggy skills unfixed.
Balance is fine, but it seemed that they "fixed" every complaint that was screamed out to them. It's great that they listen...but it's disturbing that if you scream your head loud enough that you can get anything nerfed...

Nailz,
You make some very good points but I think you're shooting yourself in the foot by insulting other posters. Personal attacks never help your argument. If anything they sabotage your efforts to persuade the other person because now they view you as an enemy.
To be honest it's pretty damn simple and you're too dumb to realize that insulting others isn't going to get your worthless point across.
I think you have a pretty keen insight so I'm sure you can see the truth in what I'm saying. I'm not saying never flame if that's what does it for you, but I think you'll get a lot more respect for your ideas if you keep from stooping to flames.

i think anet is planning to let UW nerf itself - as it already has. ecto prices are dropping, what with just about everyone knowing the build. removing prot bond was a backward step, all that does is give people about 1 week until they figure out the prot spirit build and then back to square one.
and as nailz said, im pretty sure a two man monk team can farm seriously anywhere, even with an enchant remover. all you need is echo with spellbreaker on the secondary and your monk will live hapilly ever after when they use rend or whatever.
in fact i dont see people getting fissure armor any other way, my biggest problem with the 'invinci monks' is that its a *monk* only that can do it, if every class had some build it would bring some equality back, otherwise everyone has to go make a monk toon.
i think especially when sorrows furnace come out uw will be old news completely, and i am about 97% sure anet isnt making the same mistake they made with uw

Well... a nice lil story:
I started out with 10k, bought a sup rune from the vendor, sold it for 20k repeat repeat, got 4/5 runes neaded for my UW build, now it's "nerfed', but I'm not mad, It's like I payed 10k for em all, 2.5k apiece, that's not bad imo. Now hopefully my last rune will go down so I can run a modified Mo/W and still get to farm efficiently.
And thanks for nerfing the Spirit Spammer builds, those were annoying

Posters like Russell.Crowe (nice name and such a good role model ) will get this thread closed if personal attacks don't stop.
Red Sonya: There is no need to be a poor sport about the whole thing. I think we all understand how happy you are. If you cannot keep from "nanny nanny boo boo-ing" everyone, Your entire thread will be deleted.
Stick to the subject of the changes in a civil and reasonable manner.

Jesus H. Christ, will people ever SHUT UP!?!?!?
I've not played an MMPORG type game where changes weren't made that didn't please all, it's fact of life no matter where you go. Think of the reality peeps:
A monk should NOT be able to handle the UW or most other places solo, nor should any other class. Every game after it's initial release will realize tweaks that need to be made to better capture their intended vision of the game, in way; public release is the true BETA test for the developers as it allows many different points of view and choices to be made by players as to "who/when/where/what/how".
So they changed some spells/skills - it's obvious it hasn't affected the most serious gamers intuition to continue making/using Solo builds, it's only hampered those who copied a posted cookie cutter.
The idea is to not limit the possibilities of players to form/design build or team ideas which are invalid upon creation because of imbalance with a few spells/skills (i.e. Spirit Spammers or InvinciMonk).<--I didn't mention Air Spikers there simply because the Chain Lightening spell itself isn't and wasn't overpowered....but like anything else if you multiply it times 5....what does anyone expect?? If 5 Warriors targeted the same Monk with KD's + associated skils....ummm can you saw "Down goes Monkie boy".
The point of the updates is to bring balance and enjoyabillity for all, it forces those who become complacent with a certain build or idea, to just go back a re-think another while at the same time allowing those who've had a less UBER build design...use it without fear of being blown out of the water before they even start.
....sigh w/e

I haven't done a lot of pvp in this game yet so have nothing to say re: NR, but the 'ner'f to the invincimonk is hardly gonna stop 'em.
It's gonna slow some of 'em down slightly, maybe. And the nerf might stop some of the dumber practitioners. I don't know why everyone's all dejected (or excited) about this.

The problem is: if the only thing a monk is supposed to do is healing parties, than its no fun at all to play monk! A monk has various skills to play differently, and certainly in combination with other professions. But no one seems to like it when a monk joins who wants to smite, drain life out of enemies, dispell or cast fireballs... They only want him to do ONE single thing: Heal the tanks! And THAT is the main reason why monks are desperatly seeking ways to go solo! Not UW, not farming, but the constant moaning about healing, healing, healing...

I am happy with the changes. The adjustment to Blood Renewal is HUGE for me as a Blood Necro. Now the spell is worth running, and is better than WoB when soloing!!

that's why monk makes an excellent secondary. You have to understand that "Divine Favor" is a monk exclusive attribute and it adds to the healing ability of monks. Having a monk primary character gives you this advantage. IF you didn't want to heal then you should make monk your secondary and take a different class as your primary so that you get the benefits of other classes without wasting your attribute. Like, an E/Mo could do smiting prayers and use energy storage so they last longer, or the insane recharge time on many smiting prayers could be fixed with cast casting of an Me/Mo.
You need to pick your primary class with care because of the effect it has on your character. I don't make an E/W if I want to go run off with a sword and use ward against melee to protect myself. I make a W/E so that I get all those benefits PLUS additional armor.

Yay....you got what you wanted, even though the build effected you in no way. Fine, I can live with the change. Am I happy about it? No. Will I continue to farm solo? Yes.
What infuriates me though, makes me want to reach into the monitor and hit someone is people like you sitting there and gloating. What, were you one of those kids everyone picked on in school? Get rejected for a prom? Are basically a loser who delights in others misery? I can respect Anet taking a stand. I may not like or agree with it, but I respect the fact that they took a stand. You and your ilk on the other hand that are sitting here rubbing every solo monks nose in it represent the LOWEST form of life. I mean hell.....its a GAME....get over yourself already.
Those of us that play a lot of monk primaries used prot-bond for things other than the solo build. I used it on dumb-a**ed tanks (which, using some of your leaps of logic in the various solo monk threads, I'm sure you resemble in-game) that dont have a clue and cause myself as prime healer/protector to spend way too much mana keeping them standing. I'd use Prot-Bond and essence bond on them to keep from having to heal their sorry butts at the expense of the rest of the group. Even at -2 energy, with essence and a blessed sig, I could keep up with the energy drain and keep the team alive. Now, protective bond is pretty useless, and will now become a never used skill thanks to you and your minions. Thanks for that.
So to summerize, you won. Your l337. Now please crawl back under whatever rock you came from and dream about that missed prom or something.
